If you ask me, it should be the government's responsibility to protect the people that reside within the boundaries of the law underneath the government's control.
In otherwords, the government should protect the people.
Soooooo...I believe that the role of the US/UN should be very major during the pandemic of a lifethreatening illness, such as the avian influenza (bird flu). The government should provide information to the people to help protect them from the harm that major illnesses can cause. Also, we should be properly instructed on how to prevent and control the diseases that can theaten the general population.
Yeah, I guesss that's all that I have to say.

I suppose you WOULD wonder why we see ads about all those ".gov" sites, and yet we don't see "avianflu.gov" appearing on TV. TV would be the ideal medium, of course, since the average American watches something like 20-30 hours a WEEK... And yet we don't see it.
I need to get some research done on this sickness, but I thought I read an article in Popular Science recently that denounced the hype created over the flu. If I find the article, I'll post a link to it, or something.
