Hard work pays off

After four years of hard work and dedication, I have finally been rewarded for all of my sleepless nights, headaches, and other symptoms of being an overachiever in high school.

I was rewarded with....a dictionary. Yes, a dictionary. Believe me, I never thought that my American Heritage College Dictionary Fourth Edition (sponsored by the Kansas Honors Program) would ever really be put to use.

Just for the...fun...of it, I decided to flip through it, and I happened to discover the definition of something that an unmentionable teacher (who happens to teach a class about the government of the State that I live in) wanted to know. He (or she...) was wondering of how to define the following word.

free speech: n. The right to express any opinion in public without censorship or restraint by the government.

If you ask me (which you won't), I believe that this supports the idea that public opinions do not necessarily have to be expressed by using voice alone. In other words, people have the RIGHT to burn flags, simply because they are not actually infringing upon the rights of another. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong, but this is the way that I see it.

I personally don't support flag-burning, but I still don't see it as unconstitutional.

Yeah. I'm done now.

Hello dear stranger. Nice blog, good sense of humour. Free speech is being raped lately. Good of you to speak your mind. Few questions: How do you change all the headings and the colors in your blog? People have told me to go to the template, but I can't seem to figure it out--so I ask for some of your compassion to help my illiterate sorry ass. At the same time you can check out MY blog!! (I'm travelling across Mexico for eight months.)

Adios!

Pat
